Equipment Designs
During my internship at Redwood Materials, I designed and validated multiple assemblies and subsystems to support maintenance and operations in a high-volume battery manufacturing plant.

-
Sealed E-Magnet Enclosure
-
Designed a fully sealed mechanical enclosure for metallic powder reject collection, built from scratch to manufacturing-level tolerances.
-
Integrated a continuous liner concept for safe material handling procedures
-
Incorporated strict design criteria: no metal-to-metal contact, earthquake-resistant anchoring, stable frame geometry, and safe operator access.
-
Integrated hinged access panels, elastomeric gaskets, and modular mounting features for maintenance and operability.
-
Performed static structural FEA to evaluate stresses, deflections, and safety factors; validated structural performance before release.

-
Heavy-Duty Spool Rack
-
Developed a mobile storage/handling rack rated for 600+ lb static and dynamic load cases.
-
Integrated lifting points, low-RPM rotational bearings, and locking casters to ensure mobility and stability during operation.
-
Designed under dimensional constraints of the filter press platform, accounting for clearance and ergonomic handling.
-
Conducted FEA on primary load-bearing members to validate stress distribution, buckling resistance, and deflection limits.
-
Released final design to manufacturing with detailed engineering fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and tolerance callouts.

Additional Projects
-
Supported development of powder handling safety procedures (bag-in/bag-out methods).
-
Designed mounting brackets and feeder components for circle feeders and pneumatic samplers.
-
Performed piping layout verification using P&IDs and process workflows to ensure clearances and maintenance access.
-
Created part and assembly drawings with revision control in PDM, ensuring traceability from concept to build.
